Near-Field Gladiator
A beacon shines on you as you enter the Neon Arena. Your grip tightens around the handle of your polarity modulator as you see the Maglaive's magnificent blades gleam in the stadium glow. One more spotlight springs to life, revealing a murderous shredder-mech intent on rending flesh from bone. One would not be a challenge, but surely many more prowl under the cover of darkness. The spectators of the Arena call for tribute; will you give them scrap metal or give them blood?
W/A/S/D to move, left click to pull the Maglaive towards you. Only the closest enemy to you will have a spotlight on them. Try to see how long you survive - rumor has it that no gladiator has lived to see the arena's ultimate challenge...
Near-Field Gladiator was made in 48 hours for the GMTK Game Jam 2019 and was programmed by Max Fortna and Belle Knollmeyer with art and music by Peter Zurawsky.

I like how it's not immediately obvious how to wield your weapon. It took a few tries before I figured out I could swing it in a circle by strafing.
I'm really really enjoying this. The one weapon which kills anyone (including yourself) on contact is really satisfying once you get the hang of it, but there's enough of a risk of losing control to keep it exciting.
